The highest heavens, all distant stars
Speak with a voice of stillest sound,
Above the incense of their lamps,
Beyond all praise, Thy name is found.
Unrivalled by their vast array,
God’s ancient glory meets no shore,
Yet listening at the lips of babes
God sets his praise, for heaven’s wars.
And though, through even infant voice
God speaks, still wonder more to see
Man set within the angel host,
Thy glory Lord, and care to be.
To rule all that God’s hands have made,
High-soaring birds, depths of the sea,
Oh Lord, our Lord, we hear Thy name,
Earth’s unscaled heights, Heaven’s majesty.
